Tracy Burford

My name is Tracy Burford and this is my electronic portfolio for my Masters degree at Pacific University.  The purpose of this digital portfolio is to document my advanced competencies in teaching in such a way that others can view my presentation online.   Dr. Camille Wainwright recently described three essential elements of any professional portfolio: collection, selection, and reflection. In this portfolio, the collection phase will come from things that both my students and I create in the course of learning in the classroom.   The selection phase will show work that corresponds to the 12 Continuing Teaching Licensure (CTL) proficiencies. The reflection phase includes an explanation of how each exhibit demonstrates my competency in the proficiency that I am addressing.I received my Bachelors in Education with an endorsement in basic math at the 5-9 level from Texas Tech University.  From there I moved to Oregon where I am currently going to school to complete my masters and my ESOL endorsement.  Later in life I want to learn Spanish since it is the primary language of our ESL students and possibly look into curriculum design which is an area of interest for me.  Finally, I am interested in teaching in a self contained classroom in the 5th or 6th grade range. For the last four years I have been working at Neil Armstrong Middle School in Forest Grove, Oregon where I teach pre-algebra, algebra 1, and ELD math.
